We can't wait to hear from you! And because no post is complete without a picture, here's a favorite of our family out on the land from earlier this year. :)
Thank you all for all the shares and retweets of our last installment of "All Dressed Up and Nowhere to Go"! :)
Last time we talked about seeing past what at object is and seeing the possibilities available to you in the texture and patterns that make up its surface. Today I want to talk to you about another way of seeing differently that is by simply looking more.
Take this ugly old building for example. (If you've heard us speak on this topic, then you've seen this photo and heard the story behind it. It's an oldie, but a goodie.) If we use the principles we discussed before, there are several good photo ops to be seen while just looking at this building straight on. But when we're looking for good locations, we don't want to just look straight on at the scene before us.
Look from the side, get a bird's eye view if you can, look up -- challenge yourself to look at the scene from every possible angle and you might be surprised by what you find.
In this case, the overall scene was less than desirable, but from one particular angle, it was something that has been a favorite in our portfolio for the past 5 years and counting...
So this is my challenge to you: next time you're out shooting, take the photo you intended to and then look around and see what else you can find before you have your subjects move on to the next place. You may just happen upon a personal favorite you weren't expecting.

Never have there been two people who exuded more happiness on their wedding day than Lindsay and Andrew. These two just radiated excitement all day long – they were positively giddy about getting married to each other. They were exactly what you want to see in a bride and groom and were such a joy to photograph!
We started the day in Brooklyn. I just love this first look. :)
When we talked about their wedding photos, Lindsay said that one of the things she was most looking forward to seeing was a close-in shot of them laughing together. This is one of my favorites.
Can you say “perfect day”?
The wedding itself took place at Blue Hill Farm just north of New York City. Lindsay and Andrew had a few of the people they love stand up and tell fun stories or talk about the symbolism behind the marriage ceremony. It was so personal and had the whole crowd laughing. I'm so copying this for a vow renewal one day!
The setting at Blue Hill was serene and the food made me want to grow a huge vegetable garden and start cooking up tiny intricate appetizers. :)
And so the laughter continued as guests feasted on Blue Hill's amazing creations. It was a lovely, lovely evening.
Lindsay and Andrew - you guys are the. best. I'm so glad we could be there to witness your love and your amazing celebration. Thanks for having us! :)
