Someone once told me that the most expensive words in home renovation are, “while we’re at it…”

I think they were on to something.

It all started with the roof. When we first looked at the house, the inspector told us that the roof needed to be replaced yesterday. His words were in fact, “I don’t know how it’s not leaking already”. That is never good. So we held our breath and a year later we set out to replace the roof.
