Wedding Photographers hit Tampa (for real this time)
We just got back from the Digital Wedding Forum convention in Tampa, FL and it was fantastic! What a great week–we’re full of new ideas at the moment… Lots of great things in store for this year.
And completely unrelated to those great, significant things… Here are some photos of complete ridiculousness.
First up would be the 1st International Oreo Eating Contest. This is me, probably shortly before giving the “I shall destroy all who challenge me” speech.
Greg Gibson is quite pleased with the shot he just got.
At all times, we are ready with the look. Oh yes. Always. Ready.
Jen Bebb, shooting us the look.
Under NO circumstances will you touch the animals.
I could continue, but it turns out that we have 137 photos from our trip to share with you, which was going to make for much too long of a blog post… so instead, how about a slideshow?
These photos were taken with a combination of iPhones, Point & Shoot cameras, and a “real” camera.
Special thanks to Larz for the photo of Mel and me on the couch towards the middle of the show. Paul C. Johnson for nearly all of the photos at the very end of the actual Oreo Smackdown. Also, a few of the Oreo photos were taken by Garrett & Joy Nudd. And a big thanks to Critsey Rowe for her photos of…
Well, yes. That reminds me. Before I forget… I probably ought to explain. If you look closely (or not so closely, really…) you’re going to notice a few shots that look like dead people. We helped Critsey Rowe gather people up throughout the week to set up several CSI style crime scenes. The idea was that we’d post the photos, and people would have to figure out the identity of the “victims.” (Yes, I know. Photographers are weird.) Can you spot Mel and me?

Freakin’ HILARIOUS!!!!
So much fun. I wish you guys didn’t live on the other side of the country!!!
Peace.
Garrett–GOOD NEWS! We actually just live a little over an hour from you!! :) Come visit.
hey guys glad you made in home in one piece, it was great fun hanging and catching up…I was gonna ask you if you knew Garret Nudd since he shoots here all the time, too funny….
LOVE it! too fun!
Very cool and lots of fun, Long may you play!!!
It looks like a blast!!! How fun!
I don’t think I have laughed that much in awhile, I miss you guys already :)
hahaha… I love it! How cool was it that we drove past the only mountain in Tampa!?! We had a blast with you guys!!! Thanks for capturing my Tony the Tiger moment Sean… way to be in the right place at the right time!
Theyyyrrrrrrrre greaaaat!!!!
You guys are such rockstars!!!!
Whoa! I’m so supermodelesque!!
That’s right, Brad. Work it. You’re in the jungle. You’re a lion. SHOW ME THE LION.
So…did you destroy all who challenged you? Just look at that fierceness! Looks like you guys had a great time. Looking forward to seeing how you improve this year – if that”s possible. -E
That’s an excellent question, Eddie. There were four of us involved in the smackdown. Myself, Joel Wiebner, Jen Bebb, and Jake Morrow. Joel is literally somewhere between two and three times my size. He ended up beating me… but by only ONE cookie… Or potentially three cookies. Someone said a couple days later that they slipped him a couple of extras when nobody was looking. We’re already in the works for a cheese eating contest next year. I should train hard so I can destroy next time around.
Wow. Our P&S camera way oversharpens the images. I should figure out how to change that for next time around. They are so sharp it is cutting my eye.
wow, looks like it was a total blast there! you’ve made a very convincing case for us to make our way down there next year, and that’s not even with any info about the convention itself! will you guys be going to WPPI as well? we’ll have to meet up if so!
Hey Matt! The convention itself is more than worth it, but the “behind the scenes” makes it that much better! We’ve gone back and forth and back and forth, but I think we’ll probably end up passing on WPPI this year. Hopefully DWF will be in Vegas again next year with WPPI, though. That was a better trade show, and more people were there for sure.
that first shot scared me a little bit.
It was meant to strike fear into the hearts of those who challenged me.
OMG! So funny! I about pee’d my pants…oh, I mean it was better than Pirates of Penzance! I went to the grocery store tonight and when I passed the oreos I thought of you! LOL! I miss you guys and am looking forward to hanging out soon!
I must be sick. I ate so many oreos that they started to taste like liquid cardboard and razorblades. Yesterday and today I’ve been thinking about how much I want to eat some more oreos. We’ll see you soon… in M E X I C O. Is Thomas going to make the trip? We miss you guys!
Sean – the Oreo contest was a highlight of my trip!
I witnessed the oreo-cookie eating madness and I must say, well done Sean. I was very impressed! :)
Ha! Great meeting you, Greg–glad to know our contest brightened someone’s day! Justine–A box and a half of Oreo’s is nothing! But doing it in 30 minutes… now there’s the problem! :)
Love the oreo shot!!!
[…] had to miss the Oreo Shootout that occured afterwards back at the hotel. You all have to go to the McLellan’s DWF blog and see their slide show of the events. It was a sight to see! 72 Oreo’s eaten in 30 minutes […]
