This year for Thanksgiving we made it back down to our traditional Thanksgiving stomping grounds in Orange Beach, Alabama.  Sean and I started making the trip with his grandparents and whoever else wanted to join us several years ago and we just love it!  I cook every Thanksgiving dish known to man while we listen to the sound of the waves from the open patio doors and then we stuff ourselves while enjoying the warm breeze.  Cornbread dressing, corn pudding, green bean casserole, cranberry sauce, sweet potato casserole….mmmmmmmm….the perfect Southern Thanksgiving.  It is bliss.  This year was especially blissful as it was Seven’s first Thanksgiving and to have him here with us, alive and well, is the ultimate thing we are thankful for.  Our little man has been to Iceland and China, but never to the beach so we enjoyed sticking his toes in the sand and letting the waves lap up on his feet.  I’m not exactly sure what you would call his reaction – let’s just say, as you can see from the photo below, that he was very intently interested. :0)

We hope you enjoyed your Thanksgiving with those you love!  What are your Thanksgiving traditions?  Is there something amazing we’re missing out on and really must try adding to our family traditions roster?  If you’ve not tried Thanksgiving at the beach, I’ve gotta tell ya, you might want to try it on for size!

Happy Holidays Everyone!

Thought I’d post a few quick photos from our Halloween. We thought and thought about what we could possibly be for Halloween as a family and we finally landed on this. Seven does rule the roost after all, although in a cuter fashion than the original Dark Lord. ;0)

I know I know, we’ve got the genealogy a bit backwards, but Princess Leia was just a lot easier to come by than the other female Star Wars characters!

Baby Darth was pretty determined to be eating leaves rather than taking pictures…

After walking around the neighborhood, we came back to the house to pass out candy.  Sean’s way-cool-biker-gang grandparents greeted the trick-or-treaters.

All in all, it was a fun, low-key evening. :0)  Hope you all had a great Halloween as well!

The Holidays are here and this is the time we’ve been looking forward to the very most with Seven!  When we lost our first child right before Thanksgiving, two years ago, the holidays were gut-wrenching.  Then last year as we waited for Seven’s arrival, it was a time of cautious anticipation.  Now he’s here and we finally get to start making family holiday traditions.  This season is finally full of nothing but joy, and we finally got to take our son to the pumpkin patch to pick out his first pumpkin.  I just feel so… grateful.

Gentry’s Farm is the cutest little family farm you’ve ever seen and it’s conveniently located right across the street from our neighborhood.  We mosied over a few weeks back on a lazy Saturday afternoon to greet Fall, pick some pumpkins, eat some popcorn, and take a wagon ride around to see some baby cows.  I got the cute family Fall photos I was wanting, and Seven got his first taste of dirt.  It was perfect. :0)

Happy Halloween Everybody! :0)
