Shooting With Purpose, Shooting With Style – September 3rd
We are generally quite terrible at remembering to give due notice (or any mention) for any speaking engagement that we do so in the spirit of change, we would like to let you know in advance about our next talk. Next Thursday (September 3rd), Sean and I will be speaking at our local Pictage User Group and we would love to see you there.
For those who don’t know, the Pictage User Group, otherwise known as PUG, is a community of local portrait and wedding photographers who get together to share ideas, learn, and get to know each other. Some of the biggest names in our industry come out on a regular basis to share their knowledge with the group as well and while we feel we are small fish in the speaker pond, we are excited to have been asked to share with our local community! =)
Please note: if you are not a member of Pictage, you are still more than welcome to attend PUG! In fact, we would love for you to join us! We meet on the first Thursday of every month at 6:30pm in the St. Bernard’s building in Hillsboro Village. The address is 2021 21st Ave South Nashville, TN. For more information about PUG or Pictage in general, you can contact our local PUG leaders Peter and Whitney Carlson.
If you’re interested in hearing more about what we’ll be covering next Thursday, please check out the description below:
Shooting with Purpose, Shooting with Style: Pushing the envelope and delivering amazing results, no matter what!
The location is awful, the light is bad, the wedding party runs late, things come up, and the couple doesn’t give you enough time after the ceremony. How many times have these things happened on any given wedding day? Sean and Mel McLellan have experienced any and all of the above on multiple occasions and they’ve developed a shooting style that has proven successful in beating all odds! They’ll share examples of amazing images captured in the most unlikely conditions, show you how they are able to capture a wide variety of imagery in a short period of time, and even cover a bit of their post-processing methods.
We look forward to seeing old faces and meeting new ones very soon! =)

Saint Jude Dream Home Giveaway
As many of you know, we contribute annually to the big Saint Jude Dream Home Giveaway. We have never felt more strongly about the work of Saint Jude than we do this year. When we lost our son this past November, we were rushed into an emergency c-section and told that it wasn’t looking good as the doctors worked to try to save his life. Those few short moments brought the greatest feeling of helplessness we have ever experienced as we knew that our child’s life was out of our hands and we were losing him. I cannot imagine how the parents of Saint Jude’s patients feel day after day as they hold on to hope for their precious little ones who are fighting cancer. It is truly an amazing thing Saint Jude does as they help these families and continue to search for a cure that will end cancer in children for good!
The Saint Jude Dream Home Giveaway is a fun way for you to help! Every year, a house in the Westhaven neighborhood in Franklin, TN is given away to one lucky ticket holder. Sean and I live in this neighborhood and we LOVE it so come be our neighbor! There are also lots of other prizes to be given away as well, including a McLellan Style Session so if you can’t be our neighbor, we can at least hang out and get some great images! :o) All proceeds go to Saint Jude to fund their research and offset expenses for their patients. It’s a great cause! If you’d like to purchase a ticket or just learn more about Saint Jude, you can do so by clicking on the link above or the banner below. We hope you’ll consider contributing and thank you for letting us tell you about it! :o)
Hugs,
Mel and Sean
Williamson County Wedding and Events – An Invitation Boutique
We LOVE the girls over at Williamson County Weddings and Events! They are all just awesome! (Random side note: does anyone else hear the voice of Hurley from Lost in their head every time they say “awesome” now?) They are so creative and warm and they are always looking for new ways to make their brides happy! I stopped by their personal venue, CJ’s Off the Square, the other day to do an invitation shoot for them. They’re getting ready to launch their online boutique and Amy and I had so much fun running all over CJ’s finding places to put invitations. :o) If you’re in need of invitations for your own wedding or event, you should definitely make an appointment with them to see what they have to offer! We love texture and thick, rich papers and they have such a wide variety. Check out the images below to see a small sampling of what they can do:
Ah texture! I could pet this invitation all day long!
MY FAVORITE!! Well, you just have to feel it and lay eyes on it for yourself. It’s the most luxurious paper you’ve ever held in your hands…mmm…
They also offer by-hand calligraphy services…
…and custom napkins…
